Narrabeen Mist is a reflection on place, memory, and atmosphere. Inspired by the years I spent living in Narrabeen on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, this artwork captures those moments when sea air softens the landscape and the world feels gently suspended. Painted from lived experience rather than a single viewpoint, the scene recalls early mornings and shifting light — mist rolling in from the ocean, muted tones of sand and sky, and the distinctive silhouettes of araucarias standing in the distance. These trees became constant companions during my time there, anchoring the openness of the coast with their strong, recognisable forms. With layered, expressive brushstrokes and a restrained coastal palette, Narrabeen Mist brings a sense of calm and spaciousness into an interior. It invites the viewer to pause, breathe, and reconnect with the atmosphere of the Australian coastline — not as a dramatic spectacle, but as a deeply lived place.
