The Canopy by the Water, Northbridge Angophora costata
$1,750.00
A canopy of light where water, foliage and bloom meet in shifting colour.
This work is inspired by an Angophora costata near the water in Northbridge, where the branches open widely above the landscape and catch changing light through the day. It is a part my ongoing study of Australian native trees which I call "tree portraits".
Painted in acrylic with textured layers, the horizontal composition carries a sense of breadth and openness. From a distance it reads as earthy green, while closer viewing reveals unexpected shifts of pink, turquoise and soft white flowering clusters woven through the canopy.
It holds a moment of abundance within the Australian landscape.
